Project Overview

Midvalley Express (Route 50X) began service between West Valley Central and Murray Central on April 12, 2026. MVX will be Zero Fare through April 2029.

MVX will:

  • Provide efficient, direct transit to destinations between Murray Central Station and West Valley Central Station
  • Improve transit accessibility, frequency, and visibility
  • Enhance local economy by connecting riders to regional destinations and planned developments
  • Satisfy transit service demands with rising populations and Salt Lake Community College student enrollment

This project was made possible through a grant from the Federal Transit Administration with additional financial support from the state of Utah and other local partners.

Grand Opening!

A brief program was held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at Murray Central Station, followed by a ribbon ceremony to officially open the much anticipated Midvalley Express BRT. Hundreds in attendance cheered as an MVX bus slowly drove through and popped the bright blue satin ribbon, as confetti cascaded down.

Welcomed by UTA Board chair, Carlton Christensen, with remarks made shortly afterward by Senator Wayne Harper, who was instrumental in securing state funding. Sen. Harper was followed by Salt Lake County Director of Regional Planning and Transportation, Holly Pearson who spoke about how MVX fills an important gap, providing fast and efficient service to regional destinations in the Salt Lake Valley. Concluding remarks were offered by UTA Executive Director Jay Fox who then encouraged all present over to the MVX bus for the concluding ribbon ceremony and group photos.
